Hostel Carioquinha

The wonderful Copacabana Beach is just at 10-15 minutes by walk from here, and if you continue on the Avenida Atlantica you'll also reach easily Ipanema Beach. Copacabana and Ipanema are the most turistic beaches of Rio de Janeiro, surely two must-to-see places in the city. Copacabana Beach stretches from Posto Dois to Posto Seis. The Hostel Carioquinha is located in Leme, which is very close because it's at Posto Um. There are historic forts at both ends of Copacabana beach: Fort Copacabana, built in 1914, and Fort Duque de Caxias, built in 1779. Hotels, restaurants, bars, night clubs and residential buildings dot the promenade.

On the other hand, Ipanema Beach became very famous after the success of the song "Garota de Ipanema" written by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinícius de Moraes. Nowadays it's famously known for its elegance and social qualities, and also for the two mountains called the Dois Irmãos that rise at the western end of the beach. There are always circles of people playing football, volleyball, and footvolley, a locally invented sport that is a combination of volleyball and football.
